The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is the leading organization for applied research in Europe. Its research activities are conducted by 69 institutes and research units at locations throughout Germany. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft employs a staff of 24,500, who work with an annual research budget totalling 2.1 billion euros. The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA)’s Project Group Sustainable Manufacturing is based in Bayreuth, directed by Professor Dr.-Ing. Rolf Steinhilper, and associated with the University of Bayreuth.
Key Personnel
Christoph J. Velte is project manager at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA, dedicated to researching remanufacturing operations and value retention processes embedded in a circular economy. Applying this interest, he is consulting industry partners in the development of lean production, remanufacturing principles and logistics in this context. He was project manager for the research project “Complexity management for sustainable production” and EC’s FP7 funded project “ResCoM” on behalf of the Fraunhofer IPA’s Project Group Sustainable Manufacturing.
Jan Koller is research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA. In addition to his work in research projects, he develops solutions as part of a team in the domain of production, logistics and quality to optimize processes and workflows in the industry. Furthermore, he conducts his doctoral studies in the field of remanufacturing at the University of Bayreuth.
